Ah, back to city life. It was a rude awakening waking up to the sound of traffic and people, rather than to the sounds of birds and running water. Which is why we were determined to get ourselves out of Santa Cruz and back into the jungle ASAP. We woke up early to procure tickets to Trinidad, where we could continue on the Rurrenabaque, and Madidi National Park.
We took bus down to the bus station and got our tickets (50bs apiece) along with some damn tasty pastries.
At first we only got one apiece. But they were so good, we ended up buying a whole bag.
On the way back to the hostel, Jo had a special moment. He had been looking for a certain Bolivian dish ever since we had arrived in the country. They were called Tucumanas and were similar to saltenas, but with less juice (I think. I'll have to ask him again.) Anyway, he had found plenty of saltenas, but had had no luck with the tucumanas. Until now. He found some on a random street.
He said they were delicious.
Back at the hostel, we packed our bags and picked up Patti.
On our way out, we found a few more backdrops for our flip flop shots. Patti thought we were crazy.
Today was an errand day for us. We needed to find a cord for the canon, since we had forgotten ours at home, so we spent a good portion of the day trying to locate one. We did finally find one, but it ended up not working for some reason. So Jo came to the rescue and found a little store that could burn images from a camera on the a CD. We knew that we wanted a nice empty camera for our upcoming jungle trip in Rurre, which was why emptying our camera was so important to us.
Once that was done, we were free to fill our day with whatever else we had to do, which was not much. Pick up laundry, go to the bank, have lunch, pigeon watch, eat lemon ice cream, make fun of Jo's poor legs, play computer games...you know. Important stuff.
We eventually headed back to the bus station and caught our 6:00 bus, ready to spend another night en route to the next best place.
